Pinball Service

I offer repair services for $100/hr plus applicable travel

Typically I only work on pinball machines.  I don't work on Juke boxes, or slot machines - Sorry!

In 1978, the internal mechanisms of all pinball machines made a big change.  Up until that point, all pinball machines were Electromechanical.  The gameplay was controlled by banks of switches and relays.  Proper function depended on the delicate balance of coil-actuated switch stacks, that in turn activated solenoids that drove score reels, stepper units, chimes, bells, bumpers, etc.  In 1978, the Big Three (Gottlieb, Williams and Bally) had switched over to Solid State architecture, where the logic is driven by circuit boards and computer processors.

Solid State - 1978 to present

Generally my preference to work on.  Solid state machines tend to be easier to make reliable.

Electromechanical - pre 1978

I do work on these machines, but all work is not warrantied.

Dead Machines - It worked until it didn't.

"It's just a fuse." is the longest, running joke among pinball technicians.  For any machine that stopped working a long time ago, I would have to bring back to my shop to give a thorough going-over
